Luna Cookie Moth
Luna Cookie Moth
This piece doesn’t have a deeper story or meaning. I made it because it makes me smile. The idea came to me while I was on a hiking trip which is probably why it has food in it as hiking is always hungry work. At first I thought it would be a smaller cute moth but went with the luna moth as the cookie with a few bites out of it felt like a waning moon. The flowing luna moth wings beg to be celebrated in metal and I love cookies, this piece just felt right to me from the beginning.
From the coarseness of the cookie to the fur texture on the moth I paid close attention to keeping the textures unique enough to stand out as clear individual elements. They also act as a lovely contrast to the wings flowing glossy shapes.
I am also particularly happy with how the moth legs turned out as the legs have the most complicated relationship in this piece. They have the most overlapping areas in the smallest amount of territory while also sharing the highest and lowest points in the relief.
This piece is 5”x7” chased into a 16ga thick piece of copper.
The frame is included.
Shipping will be a separate invoice.
